As an adult, I’ve always had some trouble falling asleep, but back in 2016 I started reading about sleep and fitness trackers.  At that point I wasn’t ready to commit a lot of money and the reviews I read about the fitbit brand just didn’t seem to be what I wanted.  I ran across a sale of the JawBone UP3 fitness band and decided to give it a try.

I used the UP3 by Jawbone Heart Rate, Activity + Sleep Tracker, Black Twist for about a year.  It was the perfect tracker for me to get started with analyzing my sleep.  It is small and has a quiet vibrating alarm.  I’m not sure how accurate the sleep data was but it was clear when I was up with our then 2 year old.  The UP app was simple and easy to navigate and my sleep data showed consistent patterns.  On nights I didn’t feel like I had slept well, more movement showed up in the data.  I’m not sure how accurate the REM, Light and Deep sleep data was, but overtime there were consistent patterns to view and consider.

The UP3 by Jawbone Heart Rate, Activity + Sleep Tracker, Black Twist kept track of my movement throughout the day and set up a nice amount of data to track and analyze.  It was a great beginning level fitness/sleep tracker, especially for the price.  I liked the slim design as well.

If you are looking for a sleep tracker to analyze the environment such as noise and light, the UP3 by Jawbone Heart Rate, Activity + Sleep Tracker, Black Twist will be too simple for you.  If you are looking for a high powered fitness tracker the UP3 Jawbone is not for you as it doesn’t have GPS and doesn’t track things like interval workouts.  Lastly, the band design could be more sturdy.  I replaced mine about 6 months in as the band came apart at the seam, but I did wear it while working in a research corn field which I’m sure was hard on it.  For the price, know that it isn’t made to withstand a lot of elements and hard wear.

UP3 by Jawbone Heart Rate, Activity + Sleep Tracker, Black Twist  serves as a usable entry level sleep and fitness tracker.  The UP app is friendly to use and for the price a shopper can feel comfortable if he or she wants to move up to the next level of tracker after a period of time.  If you haven’t started tracking your sleep yet, give it a try with Jawbone.
